Imperfect Harmonies (First Timers Vocal Workshop) with Militant Girlfriend

25/02/2018 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Militant Girlfriend bring you a workshop in creating 2 part vocal lines. After around 6 months of writing music together, harmonies have become the main focus of our songs. We like to play around with our voices and use them to support one another’s individual styles. We hope to show you how our songs evolve from basic ideas to fully formed bangers. If you have a melody or some lyrics in mind, bring them along and we can work on them together. If not you can use a militant girlfriend song or bring one of your favourite tunes to try out some techniques. Come and sing with us!

Militant Girlfriend are barmaids, best friends (Liv Wynter – artist & Caitlin King), and a queer as fuck pop punk band from South East London.

💖 About First Timers Fest 💖

FTF is a season of workshops followed by a two-day festival where every band plays its first show. FTF is about getting new faces and voices in bands, and doing something about the lack of diversity in the make-up of the DIY music community.

As a direct way of addressing the lack of diversity in the make-up of the DIY music community, our workshops centre people who are disabled (visible or non-visible), LGBTQIA+ folk, people of colour, and women. As well, we are here to support people who have never played in a band before // never played the instrument they’ve always wanted to learn before because of their class, race, gender, mental health, etc.

Our 2018 festival will be taking place on May 5th & 6th 2018. Applications are open until 1st March: goo.gl/jSZRk3
