This workshop will fill you in on the BASSics (sorry we had to):
– Learning notes & finding your way around the fret board
– Hand/fingering techniques to make your playing easier
– Basic scales so you can speak the same language as other musicians and write music together!
There are 15 places for this workshop. Book a place in advance to avoid disappointment here . Tickets are £5 (+booking fee). We aim to make our workshops as accessible as possible, so if you would like to come but cannot afford the ticket price, you can reserve a place by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Erin has been playing bass guitar for around 5 years and performing in bands for 7. She has played in various groups but her primary band is Nervous Twitch. She originally joined on drums and switched to bass guitar as an absolute beginner and ‘learnt as she went along’ in true First Timers style!
About First Timers Fest:
FTF is a season of workshops followed by a two-day festival where every band plays its first show. FTF is about getting new faces and voices in bands, and doing something about the lack of diversity in the make-up of the DIY music community.
As a direct way of addressing the lack of diversity in the make-up of the DIY music community, our workshops centre people who are disabled (visible or non-visible), LGBTQIA+ folk, people of colour, and women. As well, we are here to support people who have never played in a band before // never played the instrument they’ve always wanted to learn before because of their class, race, gender, mental health, etc.
Our 2019 festival will be taking place on May 4th & 5th 2019. Applications from new bands to play are open: email email@example.com
