Why can’t we afford to live in our homes?

23/07/2016 @ 11:00 am - 6:00 pm

Why can’t we afford to live here, in our homes?
A day of games, community and ideas to answer London’s burning question. Take a day out from a busy summer to get to know the economics of where we all live – our homes.
Share experiences of what it’s like to live in this city and take back your money and energy! There’ll be games, cups of tea, and ideas for how we can build people-powered movements which could change money, homes and energy for everyone. Come away inspired, with a radical toolkit for democratic housing, money and energy starting in your community, hear from great things happening now and new ideas that work for the future for all of us, not just the 1%.
No previous knowledge needed and all welcome! Share your personal experience of living in London or taking action to protect your community, learn more, collaborate and connect these important issues to change them.
Positive Money is a movement to democratise money and banking so that it works FOR society and not against it. We’re working to change the UK money system, in order to create a fairer society and a more stable economy.
Fuel Poverty Action is a grassroots campaign taking action against mammoth fuel bills and working towards an affordable, sustainable and democratic energy system.
This event is open to all guests of the Spark 2016.
The Spark is a completely free festival of ideas, discussion, art, performance and more looking at how we can bring about positive change here in the UK and around the world in venues across London between 25th June to the 7th August. To see the full programme: http://www.thesparkspace.org/
